SIM LAB DESCRIPTION

Once you do this you will not be able to do more experiments. Now you can perform the fit to a line. Click on "Perform Linear Fit" and the simulation will fit a line to your data points. Note that the line intersects zero response at zero dosage; the linear fit assumes no threshold to the response. The dose response display will now show your data points and the line that is fit to them. Your next task it to estimate the dosage corresponding to a 0.1% response. The simulation helps you do this. If you expand the scale on the graph by clicking on the "Expand Scale" button, you will see that the simulation has drawn a horizontal line connecting the 0.1 dosage level with the (linear) dose response curve. The dosage corresponding to this level is connected to the dose response curve by a vertical line. The vertical and horizontal lines form a rectangle at the lower left of the dose response display and the line fit to the data will pass diagonally across the rectangle. The answer you want for the dosage is at the vertical line. Read the value off the horizontal scale at the bottom (estimating by eye as best you can when the dosage is between tick marks as it almost always is). Enter this dosage into the box "Estimated Dose" and push "Submit".
